Polyacrylamide (PAM) is a synthetic, water-soluble resin polymer derived from polymerized acrylamide monomers. Anionic Polyacrylamide (APAM) is produced by copolymerizing acrylamide with acrylic acid or sodium acrylate, imparting a negative electrical charge (-COO⁻) along the linear macromolecular backbone.
Our High Molecular Weight APAM ranges from 8 Million to over 25 Million Daltons. High MW provides extensive polymer chain lengths, enabling powerful inter-particle bridging mechanisms during coagulation and flocculation processes in liquid-solid separation.
The charge density (degree of hydrolysis) of APAM can be custom-synthesized from 10% to 50%. This flexibility allows precise tuning to match the Zeta Potential of target suspended solids in industrial effluents, mining slurries, and municipal sludge.
Traditional chemical synthesis of acrylamide relies on copper-catalyzed hydration of acrylonitrile, which yields residual monomer impurities, unwanted side reactions, and unreacted metallic traces. Oubo Chemical utilizes an advanced Microbiological Enzymatic Polymerization Process (patent applied).
Enzymatic catalysis converts acrylonitrile at near 100% efficiency at room temperature, maintaining residual monomer content below 0.05% (500 ppm), making it safe for delicate ecological applications and municipal water purification.
